Add dishes to the menu

Dishes (or items) are each of the products of your menu, and they always live inside a section.

Create a dish

Section titled “Create a dish”

  1. Go to the section’s Items

    From the section list, click on a section and open View Items.

  2. Press “Create item”

    Use the green Create item button next to the list.

  3. Fill in the name

    For each of your bar’s languages provide the dish name (required).

  4. Add the description (optional)

    Describe the dish: ingredients, sides, notable allergens…

  5. Set the price

    Enter the dish price (€).

  6. Add tags (optional)

    Type in the Search tags… field and click on the ones you want to apply (vegan, gluten-free, spicy…). To remove them, click the x on the tag.

  7. Choose the status

    — Active: the dish is shown in the menu. — Inactive: the dish is hidden.

  8. Save the dish

    Press Save.

If your menu is fixed-price (for example, a daily menu), you can reuse the dishes you have already created in your à la carte menu without having to type them again:

  1. Within the section, press Add dish from menu.
  2. Choose the dish from the à la carte menu that you want to include.

Tags

Section titled “Tags”

Tags (vegan, gluten-free, spicy…) are reused across dishes and are created by the Taverno team. In the dish list you can only select the available tags.

If you need a specific tag that does not appear, contact support and request it: we will add it so you can use it in your dishes.

Edit the dish later

Section titled “Edit the dish later”

Everything you fill in when creating the dish can be changed afterwards. From the items list, press Edit item in its options to update its name, description, price, tags and status.

Move or clone the dish

In the item’s options you also have Move item, to move it to another section (even of another menu or bar), and Clone item, to duplicate it in the destination you choose. In both cases select the destination bar, menu and section in the dialog that opens and confirm.

Delete the dish

Section titled “Delete the dish”

You can Delete item from the dish’s Options in the list. It is a single action: it does not remove sections or menus along with it.
